First outdoor lunch of the season

Today, April/27/2016, the children had their first outdoor lunch of the season. Using stumps and old trees the children transformed what was originally a place of play into a place to enjoy their food.
Some of the children made the connection between the natural environment and the food they were eating. "outside we can just throw an apple on the ground and it will go back into the ground" a child was saying as he finished his lunch. Although we wouldn't want half eaten apples laying around, children making a connection between their food and the ground in which it came from is always a positive thing.

Seeing spaces from different angles helps to expand how we view our world. Having different activities take place in common areas such as our adventure playground helps with this. Perhaps activities like this will help expand our ideas and relationships with both play and meal times.
