On Earth Day the children cleaned up garbage at local parks and during their walk. They were proud and excited to do their part to 'keep the earth clean' and help to take care of their environment. We talked about the environment and who uses it. Of course they named many animals and even birds and insects, but forgot about themselves. They were even more motivated when they realized that their hard work benefits everyone, including themselves! The children were quite shocked by some of the things they found laying on the ground, bottles, cigarette butts, cardboard, etc. (the children wore gloves while collecting garbage). We collected five garbage bags full of trash!
