Stop Motion Club - Week 1

For the first class of stop-motion club we focused on the fundamentals of animation. We began by watching some examples of stop-motion animation to get excited for the possibilities. We then learned about the camera we would be using, the tripod, and how to do a basic setup for a short stop-motion animation film. Then we worked together to make a short movie.

In minutes we found toys to use as our characters and we came up with silly story lines. We developed a system where the "animators" would say "clear" after they moved their hands out of the view of the camera. Then, the camera person would quickly take a picture and we could then move our characters a tiny bit again.

When we were done our story, we went to the computer and learned how to put our pictures together to make our characters come alive. We added titles, captions, and credits to our movies.

Next week we will work on a longer movie as our skills progress.
