Human Science- Map Activity and Word Game

Monday December 12, we did a human science activity with maps, to find places like cities and countries that the children want to visit, were born in or have already traveled to.

We came from many countries around the world and some of us were born in different countries, so we showed each other where we came from on the map.

One Child found Mexico because he'll be travelling there with his family soon.

The children help each other find Winnipeg on the map.

They are looking to see where these animals come from.

Mr. Reyes is showing children where the Philippines is on the map.

Here we are looking for Mexico.

One child said that she already traveled with her mom to Wisconsin in the United States. She is looking to see how far Wisconsin is from Winnipeg.

This is a game we did on Tuesday, December 13th.

The game is ''How many letters are in the words".

The children have to say some words and the other children have to find and write down the word and found how many letters are in each word.

Origami Activity

Since I started my practicum, I observed the children doing many crafts with paper. This inspired me to do an origami activity with them.
They used a variety of paper to make fans, dogs and airplanes. Some of the children learned how to do the origami activity by themselves. It was funny. I assisted a few of the younger children with the help of a grade 5 child.

Children enhanced their problem-solving skills by figuring out how to follow instructions from the book

Cutting skills and fine motor control are promoted through this activity

Inservice Day Group 5

Group 5 had a lot of fun with some interesting art projects on our in-service day! We learned how to make stop-motion movies, and we made our own stories by tracing our favorite characters on translucent paper and projecting the images up on the wall using an old-school overhead projector.

Stop-Motion Club Weeks 2 + 3

Since the first week of stop-motion club, the children have made a lot of progress. The first week we went over the general roles (director, animator, cameraperson, etc.) needed to make a successful movie. Then we learned the general guidelines we need to follow on set so our hands don't get into the pictures.

During the second week, the children were given more freedom to assign and delegate roles on the set of the movie and to develop their own unique storylines. The children did very well with the added responsibility and demonstrated negotiation, compromise, and patience in deciding who would do what on set.

The children are now capable of organizing themselves to efficiently produce movies without much need for adult intervention. Their storylines and movies are uniquely theirs!
